This school district is a public school district based in the remote southern portion of Abilene, which is referred to as Wylie (an unincorporated community in Taylor County). Wylie High School is the local secondary school that is part of this school district serving Abilene, Texas.

• Holland Medical High School
Named after David "Scotty" Holland, Holland Medical High School is a public health sciences magnet school within AISD in Abilene, Texas intentionally established at 2442 Cedar Street on the campus of Hardin-Simmons University exactly across the street from the expansive Hendrick Medical Center.
• Academy of Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (A.T.E.M.S.), a high school that focuses on computer science, engineering science, and mathematics. This school is located inside the Abilene campus of Texas State Technical College. Admission is limited in this institution, accepting only the maximum of 100 students annually. One thing that makes this school remarkable to many students is because this institution provides their students with their own laptop computer.
Education in Abilene is not hard to realize and achieve because aside from public high schools, there are also numerous higher level educational institutions such as Abilene Christian University, Hardin-Simmons University, and McMurry University, which are equally religiously affiliated private universities. Cisco Junior College also has a campus based in Abilene.
