Mexico Real Estate in Yucatan - New Low-Priced Airline

One of a series of huge of advantages which Mexico real estate offers over other destinations for American expats is the short travel time and excellent travel and communication connections with back home. Yucatan, with a major international airport in Merida, is no exception; this factor will possibly see expansion in the near future with the introduction of new discount airline connecting Merida both to the U.S. and to various Caribbean Islands.

Attracted by geographical position, safety and security, growth of the airport and existing infrastructure in Yucatan, executives from Spirit met in a private meeting with the Governor of the State of Yucatan in early January, 2011. The executives expressed their interest in joining the existing list of low-cost lines serving Yucatan.

While there are existing discount airlines, the new addition would contribute to the variety of choices for direct flights at discount prices. Also, the interconnection between the U.S., Merida and the Caribbean reflects Mexico's growing role as an international travel hub connection the U.S. to other parts of the world.

Both of these factor improve tourism, and offer direct benefits to Mexico real estate owners in Yucatan; these include increased property values, growing services and attraction of further large-scale investment from international sources.

Spirit routes are mostly on the West Coast of the United States, with flights to all Caribbean islands and several locations within South America; the expansion to Mexico indicates increased options to many locations in addition to the U.S. While the final location of the flight destination is not yet certain, Yucatan offers one of the top choices.

Some of the advantages of Yucatan include the world-famous archaeological areas (such as Chichen Itza, one of the new Wonders of the Ancient World), several large nature reserves and numerous well connected air terminals.

Authorities and the company are also exploring possibility of offering flights which land in Merida, and leave in Cancun, or vice verse, which will help promote the growing trend of a more unified "Yucatan Peninsula" tourism area. Expat real estate owners already enjoy living within only a couple of hours of a variety of different styles in towns, cities and nature.

Yucatan is an excellent example of how Mexico real estate grows together with and draws benefits from expanding tourism services, such as this new flight.
